    Hello All,

i am new here, i am looking for help to recover some mp4 files.

I have tried various tools listed on this site (Video Repair Tool, recover_mp4, ...) but nothing seems to be working.

the files have been generated from a Samsung Gear 360.
i have played the files on my iphone with the Gear 360 app, but apparently i did not play them until the end and since the files seem to be corrupted.

the analysis from Video Repair seems to show there is video content in the files, but i can not manage to get it fixed.

any suggestion as to which tool could I use to fix this problem?

I have three videos which are corrupted.

    thanks
    Motus

You can post the file(s) to the site here, somebody will take a look.
Also post a small known good file from the same device

Something I usually suggest with 'corrupted' files is to try to open them in a HEX editor. If the files are very large, may take a while.
I use VirtualDub2 as it opens most MP4 files. If you go to 'Tools>Hex editor' in VD2 and open them there, you may see the problem.
If the area that won't play is all 'zeros', then there is no data there.

You can also first see if they open or play in VD2.

But it would be helpful if you could post a representative file here on our site, 500MB max.

Others here may have some better ideas.

    And welcome to our forums.

Have you tried an updated version of recover_mp4, their https://restore.media/ online tool? They have a wider range of cameras/formats/algorithms listed there.

Yep. In this case the only thing I can think of is to create an image file of the corrupt SD card and try to recover files manually, but if the SD card wasn't formatted for a long time, then it's useless (recovered files would contain trash data, like parts of videos deleted long ago, duplicated sound, wrong metadata and the like).

    Hey Team,
wondering if I could get some help - I did some recordings with Samsung VR Gear 360 - with a Cook Islands dance group - first video worked fine and then from then on all the rest of the videos are corrupt? tried an online fix service which could fix the video -no luck there... I downloaded the trial for Stellar Video - it only worked when I supplied a sample video - but in order to see the results I have to pay ... but how do I know it fixed it and could play a video? any ideas? happy to upload here if someone wants to have a go - it is 360 video?

Do you have a working reference file? If so, can you share it with me, so I can try and fix the video?

    Hi Tom
click on this link - give you access to reference and corrupt videos.... if you could let me know what application you used - then I can try it myself... I have now thrown away the micro sd card that was in the device and replaced it with a brand new one... hopefully this doesn't happen again. here is the link

This file 360_0408.MP4 does not contain any data (it is filled with the same byte, 00). You can open this file with any hex editor for confirmation. This may be caused by a damaged SD card. There is nothing to restore, sorry. You could probably share another corrupted file with me, so I'll try to fix it...
