Hi guys
I got a series set I am wanting to rip.
it is an SD standard DVD.
Basically it is a full series box set of my favourite TV show containing all 6 series.
I would like to make a direct copy of it.
Ideally I would like the folder layout like this...
Series 1 then inside Series 1 is VIDEO_TS
Then inside VIDEO_TS is that WHOLE series 1... even if series 1 has 2 or 3 discs...
How can I rip it so the whole of series 1 can all be inside one VIDEO_TS folder?
I am most familiar with DVD decrypter unless anyone can suggest another way?
Just need help with the process and what settings to use (if any)
Thanks.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

I doubt if that is possible.
Theoretically one could use low-level tool such as pgcedit or ifoedit to create a linking to such a large virtual dvd. Yet I doubt if any software could play it.
You could also rip the dvds to mpeg2 and re-author from there. But, again, no software allows you do exceed 8.5 gigs
The only thing I can even think of is to have an iso of each disk under the folder. Your player might be able to access those but is that what you really want ? -
Hey!
Yes that would be ok having the ISO thing.
Do you know of a good guide of ripping TV series?
All I would like to do is just make direct copies onto my PC. Would DVD Decrypter allow me to rip DVD TV series?
Its just I got a whole box set of 'One Foot In The Grave' would like to backup the whole thing onto the PC completely untouched (so not reencoded or anything) which software will allow me to do this or is it just a matter of copying the VIDEO_TS files from the actual DVDs onto the PC?
Thanks -

So I suppose it doesn't really have to include all the discs in 1 VIDEO_TS folder...
Even if I just did itl ike this:
One Foot in The Grave - Series 1, then inside that folder have a folder called DISC 1 of 3 then in each DISC folder have the VIDEO_TS folder which would be fine... which I am guessing would take up around 4.3GB per folder. So even if I just rip thosel ike that its fine... I just need a guide on how to do it.

Hi there
thanks for the reply.
Actually just to have them on an external drive would be ideal if possible? -

The commercial product DVDRemake (Pro) is the only program that can do this easily. It's possible, as DB83 mentioned, using all freeware, but it's incredibly hard.

What about just ripping a dvd box set normally? Without cramming many discs worth in one video ts folder.
What would you usually use just to backup the series on a pc? -
Well the old dvddecrypter may still work.
Or there's makemkv. Methinks the decrypter part of DVDFab is also free.
But do check out the 'DVD Rippers' from the software section of the site -
Thanks guys will try all suggestions and see which one works best for me

I endorse hech54 comments - I liked MakeMKV so much I actually bought it! So no more re-registering every few months or so. Do give it a go really excellent program.
