How important is panel type (IPS, TN, MVA) when choosing a monitor especially 2K/4K?

TN panels have a very small viewing angle and colors Chance quickly
So for a pc monitor this is of less importance (unless you edit photo's) but for a living room tv this is very important -
Depends from target application - TN has usually worst colours accuracy and relatively narrow angle but usually it is also fastest LC technology and as such preferred by gamers using very high frame rates (significantly higher than 60fps), also TN is cheapest technology as such frequently present in cheaper products. IPS seem to be most universal LC technology so same as MarlonB - my vote to IPS.
