  1. So I have some DVD-RAM disks (I didn't even know they existed for finding these. Such a weird name) and would like to convert them to a better file format so I can send them to people, maybe edit them, and just have them in a format that can be played by most very simple media players. But nonetheless, they cannot. I've tried converting them with no luck. Here's the problem.

The .vro file has multiple videos. The files on the DVD-RAM are as follows. Assume folders are the ones without the file extensions:

    Main Directory:
DCIM/100CDPFP that leads to no files.
    DVD-RTAV/VR_MANGR.BUP, VR_MANGR.IFO, and VR_MOVIE.VR.
    RTR_EXTN/RX.DAT abd VR_STDUM.000.

Those are the contents and I'm trying to convert the .vro file that's about 1.2 GB to something less dodgy. I've tried converting it with VLC Media Player, which brings me to the main issue. There are multiple videos in that single file that seem to be separated by something. If I try converting in VLC Media Player, the first video converts like a dream, but after that, the audio becomes out of sync and the video starts playing at like x1.5 speed. Then the video ends before the audio and not everything is converted. It's weird. Playing it on VLC Media player is weird as well, but I can certainly get it to play. Like before, playback on the first video is a dream. But when it jumps to the second video, the audio disappears. BUT, if you move the playback bar thing, (sorry, don't know what it's called) the subsequent video plays like a dream until the video after that where you must do the seeking thing again.

I tried Avidemux, but when the first video completes, it hard crashes. I can't even get to the second video. I tried googling the solution, but can't find anything. There's no signs that it might be corrupted. Maybe it's just indexed weird (I dunno I know nothing about videos). What I do find when googling is not my specific problem or the thread is +10 years-old. Any help would be appreciated.

Try Cyberlink PowerDirector. (It has a free trial.) As I recall, Cyberlink's products were better than any of the others I tried for playing and copying programs recorded on DVD RAM by my DVD recorder.

Didn't DVDShrink add add some VRO file handling to it's arsenal in later years?

  4. Try Video Redo or mpegVideowizard both can handle vro and convert. But i suggest you first copy (stream copy) in mpeg2 on your hard drive and only then convert in mp4 or whatever please you

  5. Thanks for the help. Here's where I'm at:

I got to convert a part of the file I wanted. VideoReDo plays and converts the video just fine until the last video. The last video is there and I can access it by fiddling around with VLC Media Player. In VideoReDo, it just doesn't seem to exist for some reason. I'll try the other programs suggested and see if it'll play the last video, but I thought VideoReDo would be the best. Thanks.
