    Hi, ive been having problems with my xilisoft converter that used to work until one day it decided that it was more important and refused to work. ive contact xilisoft but they've refused to answer after 3 emails over the course of 4 months. Ranting aside ill get to the issue;

    In the past i was able to import videos and convert them, currently everything i load into the software comes up as Unknown file type, even files previously used with the software.
    • I have attempted to uninstall the program and reinstall it.

      I have a tried uninstalling it, cleaning appdata folder then re-installing

      I have also tried using using an uninstaller to uninstall it before reinstalling it.
    none of which worked to get the program to operate.

    I have included a screenshot of the error. On the left is the video properties from windows. In the Center is xilisoft ultimate converter, and on the right is the video properties that xilisoft ultimate converter populates.
    The same result occurs no matter what video i attempt to place into the converter. as i said before this error occurs with videos that i had converted using this software in the past.

    Thank you for your time and any help you can offer,

  2. 85 MB is pretty small for a 1080p video. Can you still play the file(s)? Try using MediaInfo to get properties -- that's much more informative than Windows' properties dialog. You may need to install a codec or file reader/splitter for the MP4 container.

    The video that i had loaded into it isnt a feature length video, its a short video, under 3 min. The concern is that it does this with every video i place into the program, MKV MP4 AVI it doesnt matter. this video for example was one that the program had output in the past. Im using the newest K-Lite Mega codec pack and always do. Here is the media info on the video that is in the first picture.

    Does Xilisoft depend on Windows Directshow to open it's videos?
    Perhaps you should open your files in Graphstudio and make sure you get a proper graph and the file plays

    Edit: Also, as i failed to mention this, i have been successfully using Any Video Converter (AVC) though the program is very slow compared to xilisoft. I was able to successfully convert a file today using AVC. That same file (the one ive been using as a demo for this post) is recognized and can be converted by AVC.

  6. Why doesn't the name of the file appear in the File Source box? Did you select a video file when you added the filter?

    In any case, right click on the output pin at the top right of the File Source box, select Render Pin.

    Differences in speed between video conversion programs are usually just a matter of the settings used. Some programs default to very fast settings, others to slow settings. If you change the settings you can usually get similar conversion speeds.
