I just updated VLC to last version 3.0.0
I press the record button while a mp4 file is playing.
The record button turns blue and seems working.
When I press it again I cannot find any saved file
not in the folder I set in preferences not any where in my pc.
I was able to record using previous VLC version.

So how could I save what I am recording?

Using windows 10 64 bit version Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.16299.248]

    Hi,
don't know, but try stop recording by pressing stop button. I have some issue like this with not 3.0 version.

Thanks Bernix. I used the Stop button, but the result is the same: no recorded file anywhere.
Btw also the screenshot button doesn't work!

    Solved!
It was the Windows Defender's "Controlled Folder Access" feature preventing VLC from saving any new file any where!

Are you playing HEVC video? I didn't upgraded, because I don't see reason. I'm using old version. Also thinking default path is in your documents.
    But sorry, can't help.
