  1. Hi,

What is correct way to install mpv? (media player) - https://mpv.io/

    OS used is Windows 10.

    I downloaded following build:

    Windows builds by shinchiro (git)

Then I have run manually following .bat files as administrator.

    updater.bat
    configure-opengl-hq.bat
    mpv-install.bat

    Is this correct way?

    Should I do more configuration?

  2. Even those .bat files aren't strictly necessary.

Not needed. Or do you miss anything specific?

I download and use the builds from lachs0r.
I didn't install anything, I just placed the files in a directory included in the PATH (environment variable).
So when I want to play a media file with it, I open Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder which contains the media file, right-click to open a command prompt, then I write "mpv filename.ext", and press ENTER.

Only thing I miss is frontends. (I have not found anything)

configure-opengl-hq.bat <-- how important this is?

After running .bat files from builds by shinchiro (git)

All video files will play with mouse double-click in Windows Explorer.

I hope that mpv will have installer for Windows in future!
MPV is so fast player, I LIKE.

The official GUI is very minimalistic. There are 3rd party GUIs, though (I haven't tested any of them):

    Not important for most people.

  8. yes, , just have a shortcut on desktop and drop it on it
or you can use simple scripts, in any coding language

or just one time for particular extension use 'open with' and find mpv.exe

just one thing alone, that video opens up right away, even using weak machine without any delays , is a reason to use it

Nope, because just like MPlayer, mpv must be called from the command-line interface only =)

Of course you can create a shortcut to it in the Send-To context menu, but that would be illegal and anti-sportive

  10. The best frontend for mpv is SMPlayer.
