How to record from this livestream in youtube?

Hello I have problems at trying to record this live stream from youtube
http://youtube.com/watch?v=KXeFVTsFrCs

Previously I used livestreamer command line but when that project stopped i moved onto streamlink, now it doesn't work neither. Does it exists other way which I could use?. Please don't refer me to shareware programs or those who use a graphic user interfase i know they can work but it is not what i'm looking for. I'm on limited resources and a open source program which uses command line could be the best for me. Any suggestions on how to record it?. Thanks in advance.

but something weird happened when i chosen for example 136 option as it performs the action as downloading the full file as 100% but it does not seems to acknowledge that it is a live broadcast!. What can be happening, can you help me with this??

Which version of Streamlink were you using? Streamlink has recently been updated to version 0.10.0. Some problems with YouTube have been fixed.

works on the newest vlc version. Did you upgrade?

but i need to play youtube streams on the older vlc 2.2.8 version (because thats the last one where "set as desktop background" works).
So is there a way of finding the url of a youtube stream, because if i give it the youtube link it's just stuck on a single frame ?
Can wireshark find it?
