On my screen, my user name is not visible anywhere. Is this the way the forum is set up or is it a problem with my computer?

I am used to seeing my user name displayed when I am logged in as a visual indication that I am logged in.

If you mean on my post, then yes, I see it there as well. But when I first log in or if I click on the Forum tab, then I can't see any indication of who is logged in.

  4. Near the top left of the main videohelp page (where you log in) you can see if you're currently logged in. When in the forums you can see "Log Out" in that area if you are logged in, otherwise a Log In prompt.

There are indications that someone is logged in, but I don't see my username anywhere. On most websites, my username is displayed somewhere on the top of the screen.

I've attached a screen capture of what I see right after logging in.

In the top right, I see "Log Out", but not my user name. See screen shot in previous post.

    To clarify what jagabo said.

Click on the large VideoHelp graphic in the top left corner of this page.

Your username is then shown on the top right of the same page.

You can not AFAIK see who else is logged in. That's a rather silly feature on forums IMHO.

Ok, but I have to click on that. In my opinion, my username should be displayed on every page all the time. That's how it works on most other websites where I have an account (forums, banks, clubs, erc.).

Who said anything about seeing who else is logged in? I just want to see that I am logged in and the username.

^^ But that is the issue. Apart from the home page you can not see your username.

And many forums I visit DO show everyone who is logged in.

You can, actually, select to automatically log in when you visit the site. There is a check box by the log in IIRC.

And you could not post if you were not logged in so I hardly see the fuss here. (Unless that is there are multiple log-ins here)

Scroll to the bottom of any page, click 'Forum', scroll again to the bottom of the page and you will see a list of all members logged in at present.

I don't think this shows members that have set 'Invisible Mode' in their Forum settings.

Since most users' first landing is on the home page, it makes sense to put it there, but why would that even be an issue after that. YOU know you're logged in, and you're not logged out again until YOU log out. Even when logged out you can still see all the topics & threads, just can't post until you log back in. Big deal, it gives you the opportunity then.

I could only see it being a problem to someone who had MULTIPLE user accounts, which ought to be a NoNo if it isn't already.

There may be plenty of Forums that do things differently, but there are plenty of Forums that do things this way. Get used to it - it has been this way for as long as I can remember (at least since 2000).

This old vbulletin doesn't show your username. I maybe could add it to the top.
