Why is this such rocket science (8 channel HD-DTS > 8 individual mono wavs)

Hey all,
While AC3 seems to be easy enough to demux if 5.1 or less in channels, does anyone know how to demux to 8 individual mono wavs from a 7.1? All tools seems to be bewildered as to anything about 6 channels. It's a nightmare. I search all over and nada. I do know I've done it before but can't recall how.
