  1. Here's a link to doom9's excellent in depth DVD ripping comparison: http://doom9.org/dvd_ripper_comparison.htm

Here's a short snip of the conclusion verbatim:

<TABLE BORDER=0 ALIGN=CENTER WIDTH=85%><TR><TD><font size=-1>Quote:</font><HR size=1 color=black></TD></TR><TR><TD><FONT SIZE=-1><BLOCKQUOTE>So which program is best? Judging by the number of x$es you'd have to say SmartRipper. And indeed it's the best solution for most users, especially those who feel a bit over their head when using vStrip. But vStrip has been one of my most trusted friends since day one and it was the first to implement many important features and still can't be beaten when it comes to flexibility. Hence my suggestion is that you use SmartRipper when you don't feel up to vStrip. When you encode using FlaskMpeg there's just one choice: DVD Decrypter. Just run the exe and press the big button and wait, that's all there is to it. The new version even handles 1.00GB VOB files which isn't too shabby either. But when you use another decoder than FlaskMpeg stay with the programs that do IFO parsing.</BLOCKQUOTE></FONT></TD></TR><TR><TD><HR size=1 color=black></TD></TR></TABLE>

Note the last point on DVD Decrypter and FlaskMPEG. If you want to use FlaskMPEG, use DVD Decrypter or rip with Smartripper in "File Mode".

    Regards.
