  1. I am trying to record from my capture card (WinTV) a movie from my dvd player that is plugged into it (through composite). I want to record to DivX with MPEG3 Sound. I try VirtuaDub, but it gives me a bluescreen error after some error about sound (see pictures). is there any other software I can use? After the Bluescreen error, my computer works really slow, and sometimes it restarts! If it does not restart, anything I do (like closing or opwning a new folder) will have purplish mess all over the screen where the folder was after I close it or on the icons of a new folder(again, see pictures). Any help is very appreciated!

I can highly recommend AVI_IO as a capturing alternative to VirtualDub. I too found VirtualDub unstable on my system. You can get AVI_IO at http://www.nct.ch/multimedia/avi_io/

If the problem persists you can try installing the latest drivers for your card or change the PCI slot where the card sits in your computer.

  3. Your PC specs are very low, I think perhaps your pc just is'nt up to it. Capturing directly to DivX is very CPU intensive. You could capture to AVI and convert to DivX, but you probrably dont have the hard disk space. If I were you I would start saving for a new PC.
