I have a number of digital vedio files in AVI format. I would like to archive those original footage. However, as everyone knows the AVI file is very huge, about 2GB for 10 minutes of vedio. I tried to use WinZip to compress the files, but the size of the files were only reduced by less than 10%. Does anyone out there have a good methdology to do this? My goal is to be able to place 10 minutes of AVI video on a CD-R.

I am not sure. All of my AVIs are transfered from my DV camcorder via IEEE 1394 port. Are they compressed or uncompressed? If I reencode them with Divx, can I get my original AVI back if I need later. Thanks
