Hey guys help, here is the problem: I have an Xvid/AC3 .avi. First I have removed the AC3 file from the container and then replaced it with an AC3 from outside the container (same characteristics, just replaced one audio track of the same film with another audio track which was only available as an outside source). The original AC3 audio works fine when film is played in the MPC, and also the outside AC3 file works fine when played just as an outside AC3 file in the same MPC. BUT after I have removed the original AC3 from the container and replaced it with the second file there is no sound anymore, the second AC3 file won't play anymore when inside the container and when played as part of the film! What am I doing wrong?

  2. Which software are you using for this process? Try AVI Mux GUI and VirtualDub.
    Post MediaInfo of all files.

What about use MKVtoolnix for alteration of audio. Open your file in Mkvtoolnix, add ac3 you want to this and uncheck unwanted track. Start multiplexing. Then open this file in Avidemux. Video copy, audio copy and output format to AVI.
Can't this be a better way?

Thanks a lot Bernix, the workaround helped! Do you have any idea why it doesn't work in VDub? Not that it matters now but would be nice to know but thanks a bunch once again

    Glad it worked!
Why not worked with virtualdub really don't know, but as sneaker wrote probably if you check mediainfo of file that is supposed to have AC3 and that doesn't plays it, can helps to understand why.
