New to all of this. Im looking to transfer video from 6 or so VHS tapes and also some avi/mov/mk4 and jpegs I have on the pc. Wanting to put them on some dvd's, and store on a USB as well. For editing I am trying to use gimp (for photos) and hitfilm express, but NCH software seems to be quicker and easier. I already have a basic vcr and am getting hooked up with fire wire to transfer those tapes. NCH has some good deals until the 31st, but I was wondering, if for the limited amount that I will be editing those vhs - is it worth it? Am I missing something? In the long term I'd like to incorporate/edit the camera video I have, and include my photos if possible.
    Thanks.

  2. I use Sony Vegas Pro. They have a consumer version that is not too much money. It is a fantastic NLE.

Note that Vegas Pro (and Vegas Movie Studio Platinum, which you should consider if you want the consumer version) as of version 14 come from Magix. They acquired most of the Sony/SCS software in mid-2016.
