  1. I am wondering if there is a way in MediaPlayerClassic to force a constant 2.40:1 aspect ratio on movies like Dunkirk and The Dark Knight, both shifting between 16:9 and 2.40:1. I am ok with losing a bit of the information at the top & bottom when the picture switches to IMAX and my question is, can i set this up somehow in MPC so that the entire movie will be shown in 2.40:1?

I am a total noob when it comes to MPC and have just started to get familiar with the player.

In view /options/playback there is a setting for "auto zoom"
Is this what you mean ?

Hmm..not sure. Maybe i wasn`t clear enough in my previous post but my display is a projector screen in cinemascope format (2.40:1) and when i watch a movie like Dunkirk or The Dark Knight, i zoom the projector to fill the entire screen when the movie shows in 2.40:1 and when the image switches to IMAX (16:9), the light will spill over and shoot outside of the active image area on my screen.

So that`s why i was wondering if i can set MPC to use a constant 2.40:1 aspect ratio only displaying 1920x800 when the image switches to the IMAX scenes. By doing so, i will lose some of the info at the top & bottom because of the cropping but like i said before, it`s ok with me and i rather have a constant AR through the entire movie instead of shooting light outside of the screen image.

  4. madvr: processing->zoom control->if black bars change pick one zoom factor->which doesn't show any black bars.

Bonus: madvr should have some options for projectors. Set device to be "projector" and you get the "screen config". For some projectors (JVC and Sony) it is even possible to have madvr communicate with the projector to switch the lens memory setting when AR changes. I don't have a projector but I believe it can be useful for these movies?

Thanks will look into this for sure. Sounds very promising.
