  1. Ok I got this problem wich I'm sure the solution is really simple.

    I got a bunch of interview videos I'd like to join to make one big video. They're AVI. I would like to avoid re-encoding the whole thing as they're already are the same format.

    What should I use for such a task?

    Hi,
    if they are same resolution, same codecs etc, you can load it to Avidemux. Open first file append next files and output format avi, video to copy audio to copy. Then save as and it should join the files to one avi. If this will not work, re encoding will be most probably needed.

  3. VirtualDub File menu, Append AVI segment.
    All clips must have:
    • the same height and width;
    • the same color format;
    • the same frame rate (precisely the same, not approximately); and
    • the same audio sample rate, bit depth and number of channels (if source audio is used)

    With VirtualDub's direct stream copy mode, no reencoding is needed.

    VdubFM can join non-AVI clips as well (although I have not tried it myself yet)

    EDIT If file names are numbered like myvideo.00.avi, myvideo.01,avi etc, you can add all segments in 2 steps:
    1. open 1st segment as normal, 2. Append 2nd segment & check "autodetect additional segments"

  4. Thanks. I'm trying to open the first video but got the error message:
    "Couldn't locate de decompressor for format "xvid" (unknown). VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as thos used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable"

  5. Missing codec on your system. Installing ffdshow should fix it.
