Have about 100 hours of mini-dv tapes to convert. Having trouble finding a PCI Express 16 firewire card for this 'thang'. I received one from Amazon but it did not fit the slot. After further research it is a PCIe 16 card that I need. Thanks. RDM

I have looked at many of them over the years and PCI-e Firewire cards are always PCI-e x1 or PCI. A PCI-e x1 card normally fits just fine in a PCI-e x16 slot, but a PCI card won't fit.
This PCI-e Firewire card has a TI chipset for best compatibility, and one IEEE 1394a port, which is suitable for connecting a DV camera: https://www.amazon.com/Syba-SY-PEX30016-Firewire-XIO2213B-Chipset/dp/B006DQ0KD2/
Here is a similar low-profile version: https://www.amazon.com/Syba-Profile-PCI-Express-Chipset-SD-PEX30009/dp/B002S53IG8/Ignore list: hello_hello, tried, TechLord, Snoopy329 -
Thanks. I think you've solved my problem. The only other option I was looking at was to take a 2006 Dell computer and have Windows installed on it for about $100. It has Linux on it now.
