  1. Years ago, I sent my digital video camera files to a dvd recorder for storage. Now, I want to send a dvd (3 GB) of the old video camera footage thru the web.

There are 3 vob files. I successfully used Wondershare converter to convert the first 2 vob files to mp4. The 3rd vob file gets to the end, and does not finish converting. I tried 2 different on-line converters, and they also hang at, or near the end. I tried converting the 3rd vob file to different formats, but with the same problem. I could send the vob files, but not not everyone at the other end has a computer (as opposed to a smart phone or tablet). Suggestions welcomed.

Can you post to what codec video and audio you are converting to? And Mediainfo text version of each vob? MP4 is container, so knowing nothing about what file is your desired in way of codec you are using codecs. And maybe filenames of Vob files, but they should be part of mediainfo report.

  3. As Bernix suggests, you have to choose which codec to use audio and video, to create a digital backup of your DVDs and then share them on the web, eventually the conversion is feasible in any way, with different tools.

  4. To everyone who replied asking for more information, my answer is generally NO, I don't know about any settings - I've done very little with videos. I thought this would be a simple one-time activity, and let Wondershare Video Convert choose all the settings. That attitude was reinforced because I previously converted 15-20 vob files to mp4 format without any problems, and they all played satisfactorily.

I thought that perhaps the dvd wasn't finalized (possibly affecting the final vob file) so I copied the dvd to a second disk, and I know that one closed properly, but no difference. I thought that possibly I could convert the vob file to a different format video file and truncate it, getting rid of what I thought was bad footage near the end, but I couldn't convert to any other format.

I doubt it'll help, but I thought about renaming the vob to mpeg1, and seeing if the conversion process would handle it differently.

Don't you hate it when people try things they know nothing about, and then come begging for help.

  5. Try dedicated tools for that like DGIndex to get video and audio streams first.
The other tool is VOBtoMpeg to pull mpeg file out of DVD structure.
    Or PGCDemux.
