Hi All,
I'm having an issue with visible video artefacts/blocking when playing 2160p HEVC files with Media Player Classic & when using the NVIDIA CUVID hardware decoder .
When playing such files without HW acceleration enabled, my CPU hits 100%, so I trade artefacts for video lag
The artefacts are completely repeatable.
Here is a screenshot illustrating the problem.

Here is (almost the same) frame with no DXVA hardware acceleration:

Settings/info:
MPC version 1.7.13
LAV video decoder 0.70.2.1-git
Skylake Core i3, GTX1050 - 4K desktop output over HDMI
Any ideas what could be causing this?

Are you using CUVID or DXVA?
LAV author said DXVA2 (copy-back)/d3d11 should usually be preferred over CUVID because of problems/limitations (though I don't know the details). So I would grab the latest nightly and test those modes and if they are working fine leave it at that. CUVID may or may not start working again correctly with future LAV/Nvidia SDK/Nvidia driver/OS versions. -
Hi,
i noticed there is problem with decoding/encoding Hevc video with 1050 using CUVID or nvenc Hevc. It has just 2GB so I don't know if this can be problem, but problems is too much with such Graphics card. And yes, it shouldn't be a problem.
