  1. Only just started doing this so I'm not sure if my expectations are too high or if there's something in my PC I need to upgrade.

I grabbed an hour long program with my ATI AIW straight to VCD mpeg but then wanted to cut the adverts out using Vegas Video. Only I found VV would not show me where I was in the preview window. It even struggled when I re-grabbed in 15min segments. Is it the spec of my machine?

    Duron 1GHz, 256Mb, 7000 rpm hdd on DMA66

    Any suggestions?

  2. On Vegas Video there's like this loop region (yellow triangles) over the timeline. Extend that to the lengh of the footage and "render as" (menu) to VCD format. You can extend the ends of the loop region to any part of the video and make multiple files... and find and attach them end to end from the media pool. While I am still learning how to edit VCD and Mpeg1 & 2 movies with Vegas Video 3.0, this way has worked for me.

    Hope this helps.

  3. If all you want to do is edit out the commercials from the vcd captures made with your ATI card, buy a copy of VCD Cutter. It works very well with ATI VCD captures while still keeping the audio and video in sync. While this program in not frame accurate, it will allow you to make decent ATI VCD edits.

Here is a link to where you can buy the program.
