I use Ulead DVD Movie Factory to author my DVD's.

And although it worked fine with some MPEG2-files before it now constantly refuses to correctly see the filesize. That is the number of frames in the file.
I have a MPEG2 file of say 1,5 hours, some 150000 frames or so which is recognized by MovieFactory as having only 5000 frames or so. Effectively only using the first 3 minutes of the file.

If tried several ways of creating the MPEG2-streams (TMPGEnc, CCE, Pinnacle MP2 export which comes with my Pinnacle capture card) and tried multiplexing/demultiplexing it with several audio and video streams.
    Nothing works!
All files play fine in Windows Media Player, so the don't seem to be corrupt.

Moreover when I demultiplex and check the info button in Moviefactory for the video-only file it sees the correct number of frames. However it refuses to open this file as it has no audio.
After multiplexing everything after 3 minutes is gone again.

Message to the "Support" page of Ulead did not give any response at all.

    Anyone knows this problem? Solutions?
What DVD-authoring program that works, should I use?

  2. I'm having the same problem with my DVD files. If they are under 4 gigs, they work fine and you can use all the frames. But if I have a MPG over 4 gigs, then it will not see all of the file. You can still burn the DVD, but you're not able to create menus.

Here's a strange twist though, if I use VideoStudio 6, it sees the file perfectly and you can access all of the frames, but not in MovieFactory. Maybe Ulead will update and fix this limit? I'm going to try DVD Workshop and see if it works any better.

  3. DVD movie factory does not accept any files over 4gb just like tmpgenc.I have learned to live with this. A blank dvd-r only holds 4.3gb so you lose out on about 325mb of usable space.Have you tried using a m2v.d2vfile instead?. tmpg works with them.... 8)

    Use M2V.d2v for what?
Authoring, or is this reply for Christrati.

I don't have any problems creating files > 4 Gig in TMPGEnc. These are in fact the files who give me headaches in MovieFactory.

As far as the space I miss... I believe the DVD-R's are 4.7 Gb, so then you would at least miss 825 MB which could be used for better quality, so that would be a bit of a waste.

Going to try SpruceUp for authoring now I guess, see if that works.
Reluctant to try DVD Workshop, as it is from the same company as MovieFactory (no garantuees that this works better). And I find it rather expensive just for authoring my DVD's.
(Already spent EUR 55 on MovieFactory which doesn't work for me )

  5. DVD MovieFactory does have a file size problem. The trial version of DVD WorkShop does load Mpeg 's greater than 4G and seems to have a lot of features but is very unfriendly. DVDWS had an audio/video sync problem out of the box (recently corrected by a patch) which is why I switched to DVD Complete.
