  1. Why can't they just keep supporting both?
They claim it makes browsing more secure. But I never had an add on virus.

They now followed the same concept as #HyunYeulLee.

Day late info, but Noscript it seems is available for 57
EDIT: missing temporary allow, possibly my fault. But it looks very different.

  3. Thanks for that info Bernix. Link is here: https://noscript.net/getit

BUT, since I use the "temporary allow" alot, I will wait a few more days to see if they fix that.

Maybe my fault, there is custom per site mention on NoScript homepage. But I really can see how to.
When I used other blockers prior this release, I was able block for example news.youtube.com on youtube.com page. In noscript you allowed all youtube or block whole youtube. I felt better control. Now I have to lean on NoScript functionality and security.
In option is only white listed domain and allow all (dangerous)
And here is picture what you can do from browser
    Image

It is very minimalistic from my POV.
So I kept uBlock Origin in not advanced or how is it mode.
EDIT Now I see the fourth icon is custom

I had to go back to version 56 and to turn off the auto-updates. The reason is the 57th doesn't support the older AddBlockPlus plugin, important for getting hidden links to videos (since version 3 this ability was removed from the plugin).

Just been having a look at NoScript. I don't like the new setup so I shall stick with uBlock Origin as I thought I would.

Bernix, instead of Never remember history, why not select Use custom settings for history and set it to delete the history when Firefox closes. That way add-ons work normally, apart from those that don't work in Private mode when you use it.

    Hi,
I'm never used history. But it somehow remember history too in my settings. I can open closed tab, go backward and forward. Only it in most cases doesn't show visited sites in history - show history. That is all. So I'm satisfied with what I got.
I will use new NoScript, but supported with uBlock origin in default settings.
    Thank you

  11. Does that new NoScript remember all allowed or blocked scripts from past version (under Firefox 56)? So websites follow the same patters like before, or does it all need to be overhauled, set up again?

I don't know to be honest. I deleted all addons that was incompatible with 57. Maybe when you install it it will remember, but as I say, I can't confirm it. But doubt about it.

  15. I tested that combo , new Firefox 57 and new NoScript. It seams to work in a sense blocking scripts but I have problem just allow some of them. It always blocks them again after refresh. I might be something missing or that script does not work as it should. The author might know about it but it is out there because of huge demand and it will take more time to tune it up.

I have no problem, downloading and playing video.

I think that should be through custom settings, fourth icon from left. I also noticed, when you entered some other side of same page, there are other things to block or custom settings. So as you say, long training.

Edit: I have to say, that NoScript is good for sanitize XSS. Very useful. For example on IMDB.com.

Ad NoScript -AL- you can do lot in option and then in bottom left Debug. There you can manually change and add what you want. Maybe it helps you.

    new update of NoScript

    v 10.1.3rc1
    ================================================== ===========
+ Work-around for Firefox not displaying NOSCRIPT elements on
pages where scripts are blocked by CSP
+ The Alt+Shift+N shortcut now opens the NoScript UI also on
windows with no toolbars containing NoScript's icon
x "unsafe" (non-HTTPS) matching is now automatically selected
on non-HTTPS pages (fixes the perception that you set a
site to TRUSTED and it reverted to DEFAULT)
x Full addresses are shown again to be choosen in UI, together
    with base domains
    x Better auto-reload logic
x Fixed NoScript back-end to work also if sync storage is
disabled (thanks Rob Wu for reporting)
x Fixed potential fingerprinting through placeholder icon
    (thanks Rob Wu for reporting)

I get the security thing but really hate it when FF change so much stuff that everything you use ie extensions are taken away from you to do what you want out of your browser. Just about all of my extensions are gone. I have to look for replacements and can not find any. Really makes me mad. And most of all FF now looks like Chrome and I hate the format. Plane looking with no depth in any of the icons, no color to make it look good. Hope that some of my extensions will catch up and can be used again.
If it feels good, do it.

Backpain, you can check some info here https://arewewebextensionsyet.com/
And maybe you can say, what is your most "missing" extension and probably somebody will help you.

I did this all with the userchrome.css file. I have all of what I had before Quantum on the old Firefox versions. For info goto: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=38&sid=2d619653528637ee6c52adac41dffab4
That's where I got the css scripts. See example attached. Be patient and it will pay off. Quantum is really good!! New extensions will be coming. Then, I can reduce my css file.

    Another quick update of NoScript
    v 10.1.4
    ================================================== ===========
x Fixed script enablement feedback dependant on page's own
CSP (thanks Rob Wu for reporting)
x Fixed MSE detection injection using window.eval (thanks
    Rob Wu for reporting)
x Fixed window being resized and NoScript UI shown in a
separate popup when triggered on a maximized window
x General performance improvement by removing unnecessary
    asynchronous webRequest listeners

Such quick updates arise doubt in me.

i disabled the new noscript in the latest version of firefox. too many websites wouldn't load at all, it is worthless. i do like the new opera browser with built in vpn though, works well and is fast enough to be usable.

  29. I have to say, I am ok with it, each page domain on a web page has more choices to be blocked (script, media, object ...)
I have actually other experience, from previous versions I know what domain to set to custom and now it is possible to go a bit further.

If a web page shows lots and lots of domains and it is not working, I pass. That is a no web page but a weapon of some sort, mask as a web page pretending to give you some information. Main media including. If it is working for reading or just if one or two domains need to be customized (web players) and it is a known web page it is sort of ok. But sites that do need to customize 5 domains to be able just to read something, disable adblock to read it as well, that is not a worthy web site.

The new NoScript is unfriendly-to-use garbage. I want words, not obtuse icons where you don't know what does what until you click and see. That UI change was pointless, something nobody asked for. I've swapped to ScriptSafe, which is what I use on Opera and Chromium.

vBulletin 3.x WYSIWYG and NoScript was the only reason I kept using Firefox.

I've frozen updates on my main system, and will use it until sites start to reject it as "too old" (like my bank). And that time, I'll probably swap to Opera entirely. Never thought I'd say that!
