Here is the link of the 8K@60 HEVC video sample :
http://adatok1.atw.hu/8K_Ex_sample.mp4
All software players crashed/freezed only the Microsoft Edge played it well & easy, with very low (11-15%) CPU USAGE.
What is the secret behind the EDGE browser?

Hi,
just set it to initialize settings, to be easy for you to copy. Preference and at the bottom left initialize. Everything is default and played without problem.
Actually the video is 24 fps.

I don't know, where is a problem, but for sure not in windows nor in players. Maybe not enough GPU memory(maybe 2GB isn't enough), weak GPU or CPU. Or bad settings in Video players. Possibly settings is to prefer GPU instead of CPU. Don't know. But definitely not in windows 10. If so, I am unable to play video as well.

Who gives a crap about 8k right now!? Pros shooting it (6k+ with Red), but they have high end video cards and supporting tools. No consumer tv or monitor can fully display it.
4k hasn't even hit its stride yet.
What is the point of this Edge boast? When the time comes that 8k is up and coming popular, I would be confident that the popular browsers of the day would then be able to handle it. But now??

Hi!
BP player Kodi, VLC, MPC-HC, Medeaplayer, Windows Media Player, Potplayer, Zoom player all crashed when I tried to play 8K videos. How is it possible that Edge could handle this very easy?
I don't think that 4K has a future. Most television companies sport clubs/companies have already decided to record everything in 8K, and they don't waste money for 4K technology. (Because only 8K can record in real cinema quality and resolution)
Maybe 4K will have a similar future like the little-HD (720p) it was superseded quickly by full HD (1080p) .Last edited by Stears555; 12th Nov 2017 at 13:43.

I don‘t know a player called Medeaplayer or similar. Can you please give me a link?
What CPU and GPU are you using, what OS and what version of it like 1709 of Win10. -
Does 8K (or 4K for that matter) bring any improvement on todays typical size TV (probably 46 to 55 inch average)
or will we need 100 inch TV's to realize a benefit?
