encoder settings (megui)

Hi guys, after a longer time i wanted to encode a movie like always, (i have new pc so i had to download a new version of Megui) i turned it on and wanted to choose my setting in the Encoder settings area. Im looking for "Aften AC3" in the audio settings and "Xvid 2pass Balanced" in the video settings. But it seems missing from Megui! Now i dont know if this is normal or something changed in Megui? Can someone help me? Thanks

Check if your MeGUI update server is set to "development" instead of "stable". It's quite recommendable, MeGUI is updated frequently with new features, but stable versions don't appear often.

After finishing an update, call the updater again manually (Ctrl+U) and check if any tools related to Audio presets, ffmpeg, and Xvid (encoder and presets) are possibly disabled, but offer updates after enabling them again (via right-click).

Aften may be rather obsolete as AC3 encoder, quality-wise, since ffmpeg offers a superior one. MeGUI may only offer an "FFmpeg AC-3: *scratchpad*" template, though, so you will have to set up your own codec preferences and save it as your own new audio preset.

LigH.de thank you for your help , i switched to development server and updated everything manually but unfortunately it does not work, its still the same. Any ideas?

Hi,
it sounds new computer 64-bit version of Megui. They noted that you can select xvid but it will not work. Try 32 bit version.
Can't find predefined preset.
"Added support for Xvid 1.3. An additional automated step is required as the output file must be prepared with FFmpeg."
Or try older version

Aften was removed for AC3 encoding ages ago. MeGUI encodes AC3 with ffmpeg now (Aften was integrated into ffmpeg, then abandoned).

I'm not sure about the Xvid preset. I've already deleted them from MeGUI myself, but the old Xvid profiles were still in MegUI's update cache folder so they're attached.
Or open MeGUI's updater, scroll down to " Xvid profiles" at the bottom of the list, right click and force a re-install to see if that works. The profiles mightn't be downloaded by default.

Presets are no miracle. Understanding the encoder options is a much safer method to produce acceptable results reliably.
