I'm trying to recover a corrupted mp4 file. The recording unit was disconnected prior to the end of writing. Using Recover_mp4.exe, I entered "recover_mp4.exe good.mp4 --analyze" and recieve the following:

Cannot find 'avcC' atom (AVCDecoderConfigurationRecord) or
Cannot find 'hvcC' atom (HEVCDecoderConfigurationRecord) in 'good.mp4'
Be sure your file is MP4/MOV with the codec MPEG-4 part 10 (AVC/H.264) or
    MPEG-4 part 15 (HEVC/H.265).
This program does not support video format 'mp4v'.
    File 'audio.hdr' created succesfully

Mpeg-4 visual is associated with mpeg-4 part 2, typically Xvid and Divx.

It looks as if the program you're trying to use is intended for usage with mpeg-4 part 10, typically AVC/ H.264 video
    and, apparently, HEVC

If the file is not too big, you're welcome to post the whole file and somebody will investigate further
