Recently purchased the Daewoo 5800 (with all the "bell n whistles" disabled) and was wondering if any other users of this great site have the same model. I'm looking for comparisons to the 5700 in compatibility and more detail on the "hack" and if the 5700 hack is compatible with the 5800 or if there is a whole 'nother one altogether.
Two "problems" I've had with it is it's ability to use Nero created VCD menus and a random "pausing" of media when played back, both DVD, VCD, it never occurs in MP3 or Audio playback.
My concern is that the person "hacked" the machine with the 5700 info as a test and didn't extensively test the 5800 for issues.
I personally don't want to get rid of it cause I do enjoy it the majority of the time, but if it needs to be returned, I need feedback from you all soon - ;)
TIA!

So you're saying the hack was done to the player? I was thinking about getting this same unit if the all-region hack worked on it. If you have done the (5700) hack, have you tried playing other region dvds? Did it work? Thanks in advance and sorry I couldn't be of any help.

The hack was applied BEFORE I purchased it, I do not know if the 5700 hack was what was used on it, but yes so far it's played everythign I threw at it, including a Region 2 disc. The problem is with artifacts here and there and the pausing problem that doesn't seem to have shown up again since I posted.
