I wonder why you have not simply downloaded a short file from the Internet and those various media players to answer your own question.
The short answer is 'Yes, your laptop is powerful enough with that spec laptop'.
I use MediaPortal to play media files with a nice frontend. You could use VLC.

as you mentioned that MPC-HC is dead, i think it will return. If you likes it you can switch to MPC-BE (black edition). I personaly prefer Potplayer where you can set process priority and change videorenderer on the fly.
Test video players you mentioned. Watch how smooth is playback and audio/video sync.

Hi,
your processor supported Intel QuickSync. You can try in Potplayer - preference - filter control - open codec And here Enable Intel QuickSync Decoder. Just try it if playback is bit better.
But according to wikipedia it will helps you only with h264...
