Is i3 5005U enough for playing x265 video

Hello,
I have Lenovo z51-70 (i3 5005U, HD5500, 4gb Ram). Is my laptop enough for playing 720p/1080p x265 flawlessy? Which player would you recommend me? MPC-HC (Which is dead now), Potplayer, SMPlayer with MPV, Kodi, VLC or Windows 10 video app.

I wonder why you have not simply downloaded a short file from the Internet and those various media players to answer your own question.

The short answer is 'Yes, your laptop is powerful enough with that spec laptop'.

I use MediaPortal to play media files with a nice frontend. You could use VLC.

Hi,
as you mentioned that MPC-HC is dead, i think it will return. If you likes it you can switch to MPC-BE (black edition). I personaly prefer Potplayer where you can set process priority and change videorenderer on the fly.
Test video players you mentioned. Watch how smooth is playback and audio/video sync.

Hi,
your processor supported Intel QuickSync. You can try in Potplayer - preference - filter control - open codec And here Enable Intel QuickSync Decoder. Just try it if playback is bit better.
But according to wikipedia it will helps you only with h264...

I've played 1080p HEVC with quite a high bit rate (c. 6M/sec I think) on a laptop with older Intel graphics than that. It's got an Ironlake series chip, which is pretty old. It plays flawlessly with SMplayer.

I have an old intel i3 2120 and everything plays fine on MPC-HC
