  1. Recently I shot a video using DSLR and would like to add few static pages to show information like, name of the camera and lens. Please suggest a way to do this.
I have Virtualdub installed on my machine.

    Thanks

  2. Hello, by static pages, do you mean an image/screencap in the video that displays information? If so, in your video editing program, you can just edit in an image or bit of text over the video that says the name of your camera and lens. Most video editing programs should have the option of adding a text overlay to video but if you just want it to be a still frame then it's pretty easy to create a few still frames in a basic program like MSPaint. Just type what you want in the photo.

    Hi,
I think that best way (not easiest) is to use something like Kdenlive software. It is free but powerful. Simply use razor where you want put your static screen. It divided your video on two parts. Make a gap with desired duration, and then insert your static picture in the gap. Drag the image to fit the gap... etc... This software needed some skill but not much.
For installation you can follow https://kdenlive.org/download/ because it needs some files from ffmpeg.
I suggest this program, because it is really usefull to have some Non Linear Editing software on computer. It can do almost everything with video and audio f.e. to make video playing from end to start slow down or speed up video and audio etc. There is plenty of video tutorials on youtube, if you have any question.

  5. What is a "few" static pages? Did you mean more than one, or in different segments ?

    Some potential problems are
    1) quality loss if re-encoding the whole thing - typically this occurs if you use a conventional video editor
    2) problems appending segments if you just wanted to paste segments in - you have to match the encoding settings for audio/video (can be difficult) and sometimes there are "glitches" at the seams or concatenation points

So if you just wanted the information displayed, another option is to use a soft subtitle format like srt to display the information . The benefit is no quality loss, you are able to toggle on/off , no problems appending. But some negatives are not all players will display them (e.g if you upload to a website, they usually will not be displayed, but most popular software players will)

Yes. This is what I plan to do. Create a JPEG in Mspaint and put it the either at the beginning or at the end. I hope to not have to re-encode.

    Thanks

I plan to add a JPG file at the beginning and at the end of the clip (not in between the clip). Hope I can achieve this without re encoding.
If re encoding becomes unavoidable, then I will use Subtitles.

    Thanks

If you want only at the start and the end, so you can open your picture in avidemux. Copy frame and then keep ctrl+v since desired duration. Save video. Than make same way static video for end. It must have same resolution as your video. Then open mkvtoolnix open first video, right mouse button on video files in upper half of screen and append midle video and than click again and append end video. Then press Start muxing. That is also way how to do it.
