I have a black and white movie that looks like it has been created in 3d or 1080p it comes out fuzzy. It there any way to sharpen the picture? This makes the sound out of sync! I got this movie from YouTube. John

Sample image. Or better, video. But in short, you usually can't make a video much sharper.

If I could take the chunks out that would be great. Is that due to it being originally converted to 3d or ' HD ?

It's due to being encoded in very low bitrates,nothing to do with 3d and hd conversion.

You can't fix it since all the details are lost,you need to get the original source which should be hd in quality,if not then there's nothing else you can do.

I used AviSynth
Code:ImageSource("gomer.jpg") Crop(0,1,-151,-0) ConvertToYV12() Spline36Resize(width/2, height/2) aWarpSHarp(depth=10) nnedi3_rpow2(2, cshift="SPline36Resize") aWarpSharp(depth=10)
No, the main problem is over compression. There's no detail left, edges have become very ragged, and there are lots of blocky artifacts.
