    Hi,
sorry if the question was already answered here. But I found only answers with opposite problem.
I am burning several mkv files on disc in , not ISO (where I notice it is bit faster probably because of 1 big file)
I have 25Gb BD discs marked speed 6x. But when I burning it in Burnaware Free on my Asus HT16etc... It says the disc was succefully burned at speed 8x. I have all settings on default, and I didnt check burn at slower possible speed (hope it is right translation). And yes I checking blank media in Burn aware free before burning.
Automatic control of the disc is o.k. Samsung BD player playing it without problem. So quality of burned disc seems to me good and much better than other brand disc which makes horrible noise in drive when trying it to read it and the drive is same as the disc was burned in.
So my question is - why is it burned faster than declared speed. I thought it is responsibility of software and there is some information on blank disc about max speed.
I deleted all reference to media brand because I dont want to be accused of advertising. But I can provide it when it will be usefull to explain my question.

    My english is horrible...

    Thank you

  2. The supported speeds come from the drive itself and its firmware, not the software.

Software can ask the drive to burn at any of the speeds it claims to support the given media at.

Thank you. So suggested is to slow speed manually for "more reliable record" or is it o.k. this way.
I thought there is something this is checking max. writing speed of the medium automicaly and do not go over it .
