  1. I recently downloaded this program and I've heard that many people liked it, but the problem is why is it taking so much space to do the job, I riped the movie Gladiator to my D drive and the VOB files was around 8G. then I used DVD2SVCD to convert it to SVCD on drive C and every set up is at default except I disabled the Ripping (because I've already did that with smart ripper) and also I've disabled the CD image (so no CD image will be produce). with TMPG and Flask the 7G in my C drive should have been more than enough but with this program I don't know what I did but in the morning when I woke up and found out that it needed more space so my question is that what can I do to make it take less space and did I do something wrong? Thanks in advance.

  2. Hmm....I just recently did Gladiator as well. Regarding the ripping of the vob files outside of DVD2SVCD and then importing them to use the rest of procedures in the software - from experience this is a bad idea. Ive wasted many of hours with faulty encodes by ripping with another program then trying to use DVD2SVCD for the rest. The bundled software uses internal procedures to rip the files, and often balks when importing .vobs from elsewhere. Yes the seven gigs on your C should have been more than enough, looking at my on stats. The entire procedure includeing .bin/.cue files was 13.6 gigs on my computer. My guess is, that somehow, theier was a duplicated process. Also, DVD2SVCD does some wierd things with audio extracting and sometimes runs dups. that eat up space...

    Thats my 2 cents.

On another note, DVD2SVCD is a great program. I have only spun two coasters out of about 35 SVCD's using it.

    Good Luck.

  3. I don't know if you unchecked the " don't delete any files " in the Misc. tab. This will delete the VOB files and others after they are used. The downside is that a crash recovery becomes impossible. It does save space.

  4. let's not spread false info here now. Although part of it is correct in older versions.

1.0.8 build 1 if you uncheck 'don't delete files' Recover (or used to be called Crash Recovery) works now.

It doesn't not delete vobs nor should it. Why? If you needed to Recover or recode then it wouldn't be able to process your video and you'd be SOL.

What the 'don't delete files' does is I believe deletes your bbmpegmuxed.mpg files which for each cd are around 804MB. Also I believe it deletes the .mpv which is 1.5GB to 2GB after the pulldown .mpg has been created.

edit: Oh yes...with each dvd you should have 10GB - 20GB depending on the length of the movie. If you don't have that much space you should instead either purchase a larger 80GB+ hd or use DVDx and thrash your dvdrom.
