  4. Hi guys. I hope everyone is ok.
I'm trying to install windows 7 pro on Asus Laptop e406m n this laptop has no Legacy/CSM. Only UEFI, secure mode and fast mode. I turend all off, I could install windows 7 using win7 updater everything went fine but windows 7 wont boot up it says File: \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD, Status: 0x000000d. it saying to insert the installation media to repair but the original installation won't boot, and the updated one has no repair option, it seems the updater took it off. I tried to using win 10 installation media but it didn't help, MBR not working in this laptop.
Is there any possible way to boot this up??

    Thanks in Advanced

Can someone help me? With the Intel Wireless-AC 9560 160Mhz driver, i tried using the Dell driver's and Intel driver's, but it all failed the setup just says "This setup requires newer version of windows" and force install trou device manager same, now since my pc is dell, it need's this driver, or else on my main Windows 10, installing trou intel's website, just doesn't work, iam hoping for a mod, maybe even UHD 630, but sadly intel is SUPER ANTI-WIN7 and it's bad

    Thank you very much Atak_Snajpera!

Last year I have successfully installed win7 Pro on ASRock X470 Master SLI and Ryzen 7 2700X and Samsung 970 EVO NVMe drive.

Recently bought new MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus mb with Ryzen 5 3600 and Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe.
I successfully build new instalation Win7 ISO from same source with your latest tool (14th Aug 2020).
Added partitions on NVMe drive and trigered installation, but after first reboot machine crashed and entered in loop.

There was BSOD very briefly so I can not see a message. Periodically I can manage to enter in Safe Boot and at loading ahcix64s.sys it froze.

Maybe new B550 chip set is not yet supported in your tool.

    System:

    MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus/latest BIOS/Ryzen 5 3600
    Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe

    CSM enabled
    Legacy mode BIOS
    Secure Boot Disabled
    en_windows_7_professional_with_sp1_vl_build_x64_dv d_u_677791.iso
used Rufus with "MBR part. scheme for BIOS or UEFI"
USB Keyboard/mouse worked till first reboot

Any help or ideas would be highly appreciated.

Check the Sata/raid status. And set the Bios to AHCI. That foxed it for me.

    @lvpha

Thank you for your answer, but AHCI was already set.

In the meantime tried installing on Samsung 870 SSD (not NVME M2) on SATA1 and there is same behavior.

    Maybe some other ideas.

Very curious, soon i am coming with MSI B550i motherboard too, because I am upgrading to Ryzen 5 5600X and hope the installation problem will not exist.

    Hello all,

Firstly BIG thanks to all who put their own hours and hours, effort and knowledge out for others to benefit from

I was going to use Win 7 in Virtualbox as it works brilliantly, but I need certain hardware and the USB pass through doesn't work under any virtualisation that I've tried. SDR radio's if anyone is interested.

    LG Gram 17 17z990, 8gb ram
I have followed your tutorials on here and I now have an LG Gram 17 booting with Win 7 (x64). Very fast indeed. The only problem is that the touchpad and usb ports are not working. Luckily it dual boots with linux so I can see what the hardware is.
It's a mish mash of Kaby Lake, Whiskey Lake, Cannon point and UHD620. Using Manjaro linux the only thing that doesn't work is the fingerprint reader and I don't care about that. Everything else works out of the box.

The usb ports using INXI in Manjaro linux are listed as USB2 and USB3, USB3.1 and Thunderbolt. I have unknown devices which I can only guess are the touchpad and the fingerprint reader.

Does anyone know how to get the USB and trackpad working please? Obviously no usb - no external mouse either.
    • WIFI is CVI intel
    • ethernet is usb C / Thunderbolt - seen but no drivers as the adapter lights up then goes out
    1. To enable CSM once you are in UEFI you need to disable secure boot
    2. Use UEFI (it will not boot in any other mode, mine didn't anyway)
    3. Once in the UEFI you need the magic tricks of "CTRL-ALT F7" which then gives a HIDDEN set of UEFI options, including CSM mode.
    4. I had to use a DVD as I could not get any USB to install Win 7. Linux installs via USB

Then Win 7 will not only install but will then boot up
    cheers all,
    Hopmeister

    Hi all

I've tried the creation a couple of times now, firstly to my Desktop and then to a folder within another drive entirely; the resulting .iso file just doesn't seem to actually be getting created.

I've done a search across the entire system using UltraFileSearch for *.iso and while a lot of them turn up (including the Win7Pro64 one I'm trying to update), the one this program is supposed to be creating is not among them (and it's easy to see that it's not there, the last time I specified an empty folder, the process completed and it's still empty).

I'm only applying Win7Pro changes too, not all versions; the first attempt was with all of them selected, this time I was more specific in case that would make a difference.

I've seen a couple of other posts with this same issue. Any suggestions?

The log should be attached here now.

Editing to add that I also disabled adding in updates, I only need the drivers.

And for the previous commenters asking "Why not just use Win10?", here is my reason: Various older games won't run fullscreened under 10, they simply decide to take up the top-left 1/4 of the screen and pretend that's fullscreen. Compatibility Mode doesn't change it, drivers are the latest, and Font Size and Zoom settings are both at 100% (I've done my research). Under Win7 (on a different machine, sure), these run as intended; my hope is that Win7 on this i9 build will work the same way as it does on my i7.

Ok, here is the DISM log.

And because error 5 was being mentioned which I usually understand to be Access Denied, I've ran the program as the System user through PsExec to make as certain as possible that there would be no access issues. It also says there isn't enough storage available in that log, but there definitely is (if 400GB isn't enough space, there's a problem).

    I appreciate the help

    Hi Atak_Snajpera!

I've been trying to install W7 on my new i9-based "Asus ROG Rampage VI Extreme Encore" with Corsair MP600 NVMe drives. So happy to find your work!

I downloaded the source from your link at the top of this thread. I also downloaded the W7 iso from the button link within the app itself. All onto a 1TB SSD.

The app runs fine for quit a while, then dies with Error 5:

I used the tool to make the iso, and then used the included rufus to make the usb. Windows sees both drives, installs, reboots updates registry... then reboots again and gets stuck at that line.

Oops. Sorry, I didn't notice your question was posted in this thread! So you're trying to install from a USB flash drive?
