Does the Hauppauge Capture Software only let you trim the beginning and end or can you snip out a glitchy portion in the middle? The YouTube video made it sound like you can only trim the beginning and end.

What's a good software to trim or snip out a middle segment from a mp4 or ts? Thanks.

Most software lets you either KEEP what you select, or CUT what you select.
When you "select" something, you set(or select) a beginning and an ending(starting frame, ending frame) of what you want to cut/remove.
I think you are misunderstanding what the instructional video is saying.

I use VideoReDo TV Suite 5 to edit captures from my Hauppauge HD capture device, as well as my PC TV tuner devices. It does a good job with both.

I've used software to edit videos before, so I know how they are supposed to allow you to define segments to keep or cut.

In Hauppauge Capture, a few things seem screwy. In the Edit tab, most of the time, the Cut and Split buttons are nowhere to be found. A video recorded via standalone mode copied to the harddrive's folder for Rocket videos are not detected, and no files at all can be Added since none are visible when browsing in folders where there should be video files. When I Play a video in the Edit tab, the Cut and Split buttons disappear.

Does Smart Cutter always make weird blocky gray transitions at cut/edit points? Is the pay version cleaner?

Is there something that would make clean seamless edits?
