  1. I turned an avi file into an mpeg2 file and I authored it with Ulead and burned it to a disc. It will play in dvd format on a computer but not in my stand alone. How can I get it to play on my stand alone? is it the software or the discs or anything not covered.
My DVD playa is "Govideo DVR5000" and the discs im using are: "Imation CD-R's" with 700MB.

according to the compatibility list on this site, your player doesn't play SVCD's--which is what you have if your file is mpeg-2. I've seen workarounds in the forums pertaining to SVCD with VCD header--try doing a search for that. your only other alternative is to reencode your file as XVCD, which your player should play. you might have to play around and find out what the maximum bitrate your player will handle with XVCD if the workaround doesn't work.
