    for the next couple days:

    https://sharewareonsale.com/s/free-vsdc-video-editor-pro-100-discount

Seems to be the current Pro version.

I have not tried this, so have no opinion on it yet. (Regardless of their respective virtues, where most of these programs fall down quickly is in their UI, Ease of Learning / Ease of Use.) But hey, when something is free to check out . . . .

Seems like junk. Only will work for a year it seems. If true forget about it:

A certain percentage of people usually report a "failure to activate", but this is often due to an interaction between the custom (giveaway) installer and one's anti-virus &/or firewall. I had no problem activating this on a W7 x86 box, and did not even have to temporarily disable my Avast, either. But I probably had whitelisted those sites as exceptions, some time ago.

As for the program itself, I still have not gotten around to tryng it. I think there were some favorable reviews on it (incl. here, in the Tools section), although the UI came in for criticism. I tend to be up for trying out any video editor that comes to my attention, which I had not previously seen.

FWIW, a company rep disputed what you said, stating that it is in fact a 'lifetime' license. (I myself generally will skip anything that comes with a 3-month or 6-month license. Or uninstall the program, if I later found that to be the case. A 1-year license would fall into a grey area, with my reaction depending on the level of interest.) He also said that messing with the computer clock brought a negative result, because it was an effort to thwart hackers. What must usually be done with these freebies is to immediately tick the box that says "Never Check for Updates", since any update would invalidate the freebie license. You also cannot install a later version, for free, for the same reason.
