I'm wanting to install an SSD as a second drive on my vista machine for photo editing & games. Without TRIM can the drive still be
maintained with some other simple program to keep it's performance from degrading? Or will it surely degrade & be a bad idea?

I wan't to know if I can easily keep the drive's performance up or I won't worry about it.

  2. People use SSD on XP without any issues with speed.

Some SSDs software may include the TRIM option. Samsung SSD Magician software with TRIM should work with XP or Vista OS's, though it may need to be run manually.
