  1. Hey,

I'm using a Windows 10 PC and I can stream mkv files with dts to a xbox one and a Panasonic TV without any problems with the "Play to" option (right click on the mkv file and then "Play to". I know that normally the Windows Media Player can't handle DTS and in the past, I had to convert it with e.g. Popcorn. I don't know what I installed, that it works know.

Is there any possibility to find out, what kind of software, code pack or else make it possible to stream mkv with dts to an other device? Maybe someone know it. A friend can't stream it to his new Panasonic TV or his Yamaha RX-V781 receiver and we tried a lot of tools, but nothing work.

    thanks and best regards

Does this friend have “Play to” or “Cast to Device” to the tv or receiver working … (1) at all for any media file; (2) for any MKV; (3) for any DTS media files?
I.e. be methodical in your problem solving.
Realise that the Microsoft Xbox One is sort of special in your setup, as it may be more friendly to a Microsoft Windows PC, and may be doing a lot automagically in the background with regards to connecting to each other and playing media, as the Xbox OS includes a Windows OS core. Other setups will have to do with generic control as “manual” DLNA and Miracast.

  3. Hey case, the streaming of my friend is working. Only if the mkv has a dts audio file included, the tv shows a message, that the audio source is not supported. I convert the dts track in the mkv with Popcorn Converter to ac3 and then it works.

Of course, the xbox one is different, but in the past, I had also convert the dts tracks to ac3 to stream it to the xbox one or the tv. I thing that I installed something that adds a DTS support to my computer. Maybe the dts track is transcoded on the fly because as far as I know, Panasonic does not support DTS.
