Hi
I've got a short question:
I'm encoding a SVCD with VBR (2-pass)
Average bitrate: 1240
Max: 2496
Will the result be watchable or is the quality of this encoding too crappy?
What is the lowest bitrate you'd recommend (i know that this site says 1500, but thats for CBR AFAIK) ?
The reason I'm asking is that my old PII 400 takes 24 hours to do this, so it would be nice to know in advance.
Cheers,

There is no rule of thumb. The needed average bitrate depends on the source (action and colours) and your personal taste.
IMHO 1240 kbps is usually too low for SVCD resolution.
