I captured a 1h 40m VHS tape using AmaRecTV and the Grass Valley HQX codec.
Any ideas?
- VirtualDub-1.10.5-test7-AMD64 (October 2014) can't open the file as it just shows 'Reconstructing missing index block (aggressive mode)' and it would take a long, long time complete each time.
- VirtualDub_FilterMod_40087_5 (July 2017) opens the file instantly but if I skip past roughly the 30,000 frame/20-minute mark, the program freezes and never re-responds.
- AVI Splitter 2.21 (2006) shows 'Unsupported type of chunk index: 0'
- Avidemix 2.6.21 (May 2017) freezes when I try to open the file

potplayer, mpchc will be using the official system installed codec. Also try VLC which uses a different decoder
Hard to say what caused it or if amarectv is at "fault" from that information alone. Maybe you had a power surge or "brown out" , just a guess
Can you describe the physical setup ?
You can try recovery software, or you can try recapturing, or some other method of recording -

If indexing completes successfully, dub to a new file using direct stream copy mode.
