  1. Hello, dear all.

    ---> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Paint

Which other similar programs like Microsoft Paint do you point to use in Windows 10?

I'm looking for a simple program. Just like Microsoft Paint. Portable and freeware, if it's possible.

And, do you know if it's possible to find or make Microsoft Paint portable too, to run in Window 10 or newer Window's OS?

    Thanks.

    Best regards.

  2. mspaint.exe from Windows XP will run on Win10. Of course, it's an older version of Paint.

But every other paint program is far superior to MS Paint. There are several free open source paint programs. I don't use any so I can't really give a recommendation.

I still like the old simple version of XP mspaint.exe and I use it all the time in W10. Since it's an .exe, I just put a link to it in my start menu.
If I need more advanced I use Gimp (Free) or Photoshop. $$. For XP mspaint.exe, just do an internet search.

I myself still use the mspaint.exe from Windows Vista.
The stupid "ribbonized" interface of the Windows 7 version does annoy me.

My wife still uses Image Composer on Windows 10, and I use it on XP.

Nice to hear that! Can I use both mspaint versions as a "portable" type in Windows 10?

And in Windows 10 can I make mspaint.exe a portable version of it?

If its possible, how to do it? Or I can find it in internet easily?

I heard that will be removed / replaced in Windows 10 updates.

And as I use mspaint many times, I want to have it on my PC ( which use Windows 10 ).

Does anybody use other portable similar programs? Gimp is nice, but I look for a more simple program, just like mspaint.

    Thanks for your tips!

    Best regards.

XP MSPaint.exe is easily found on the Internet. I have it added to my W10 PCs and the W10 anniversary updates didn't affect it.

I did try to replace the new MSPaint with the old one in the Windows folder, but that didn't work for me.
So I just have it on one of my drives and have a shortcut to it on my start menu.

I also run Start10 on both my W10 PCs as the W10 interface doesn't work for me and neither PC has a touch screen. I like menus.

Paint.Net is probably the best free alternative to MS Paint but with way more features. And not as demanding as GIMP or Photoshop.
