  1. Anyone use VLC Media Player to create music playlists?

I’ve been using VLC Media Player (now ver 2.2.3) (Windows 7) but it will no longer plays tracks in descending order.

I used to be able to drag (from my hard drive) over 25-30 tracks of .mp3 songs and arrange them all in the way I want them to play. Now, it jumps all around once I have them all placed in the playlist window.

I have not clicked the toggle to play random.

I just want it to play track one, then two followed by track 3 , etc.

Is there a setting I must set to ensure the tracks play in descending order and don’t randomly bounce around playing tracks in no order?

I even created a playlist file of my selected tracks I dragged into the playlist window pane named with the .xsp (VLC Media format) extension but that made no difference.

If not, other than Windows Media Player or Windows Media Center, can you please recommend a free music player software you use where you can play music tracks in descending order?

    Thanks so much!

  2. Add Track Number to the playlist columns. Sort by Track Number.

    That's a no-brainer: foobar2000, of course.

  4. I'm sorry I;m not folliwng that?

How does one add a Track Number?

Then, what are the steps to Sort by Track #?

I've never had VLC had a problem with paying in descending order before.

    Thank you.

Near the top of the playlist, where all the columns are labeled, right click, then enable Track Number from the popup menu.

Click on Track Number in the column labels.

This does require that track numbers are included in the MP3 metadata.

Load the files in foobar2000 (Add files..., Add folders..., Drag and drop..., whatever), rearrange them if needed, and then File -> Save playlist...

  8. Or highlight the tracks, right click on one, select Sort By Track Number.

  9. I'm not sure how to ensure the track numbers are included in the MP3 metadata?

Does that mean if I have a .MP3 named Bruce Springsteen - Glory Days.mp3 I need to rename that file as 1Bruce Springsteen - Glory Days.mp3?

So, I would have to rename each track for the tracking in VLC to play the tracks in descending order?

    Thank you.

Turn of the Random feature. It's on the bar with the transport controls.

  12. I'm not in front of a PC that has VLC now.

I recall there is a toggle switch on the bottom which I never touched.

    Is that the transport controls?

If not whee do i find the transport controls?

And exactly how do I turn off the Random feature there?

    Thank you!

I've also unchecked the box for random searching.
