I have had a Panasonic DMR-EZ485V since 2010. It has a QAM tuner. Until recent modification by Optimum, I was able to auto-program using the QAM tuner without any problem. I had to rescan channels resulting in updated listing of available programs. This list is missing some digital channels that I can manually access and view. Programs viewed this way can be recorded, but they cannot be auto-programmed because the channels are not on the list from which they need to be selected. Is there a way to manually add these channels to the list? So far, I haven't found it. My Sceptre 32-HD TV has also lost channels after rescan. I have that since 2012. Unlike the Panasonic, I cannot manually access any channel that was not picked up during autoscan of the TV.![]()

It looks like there is a way to add channels to the DVD recorder's internal list.
Download the manual at: ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/dvdrecorder/om/dmr-ez48_mul_om.pdf
Instructions for manually adding channels to the list are on page 55 in the sections labeled "Set Channels Manually" and "Adding and Deleting Channels".Ignore list: hello_hello, tried, TechLord, Snoopy329 -
I followed that procedure the other day. Do you know if there is any way of manually adding channels that are not already on the list? For example, Channel 4-1 is not on the list, but I can get the signal on the TV through the Panasonic. The glitch might be that at first a message appears saying that the channel is unavailable, but then then it appears. The same thing happens with the other channels that I need added to the list. I believe that the list is first created using autoscan. After that, you can manually add or delete channels. How can I get those other channels onto the list?

I don't have a DMR-EZ485V or Optimum cable service. How are you entering the channel number that you want to add?
I have a Magnavox DVD recorder. If I go to the menu selection which allows users to add/delete a channel manually, I can add the current channel the DVD recorder's tuner is set to, if it is not currently in the list. If I want to add a different channel, I can enter the actual frequency for a channel (i.e. 38 instead of 11.1) and after the DVD recorder processes it, I can add the channel.Last edited by usually_quiet; 30th Jun 2017 at 20:38.

I also have two Magnavox DVD recorders. With those, all I have to do when scheduling a recording is to enter the channel that I want recorded.
The Panasonic does not seem to have an option to manually add a channel unless it's already on the re-autoscanned list. On this unit, the first channel that comes up in the scheduling module is usually the one that you are watching and then you can scan up or down to get to the one that you want to program. But if it's not on the stored list, it doesn't appear. If I manually input a channel that isn't on the list, it bounces to one that is. If the signals aren't strong enough for the units to autoscan into the list, my cable company won't help because I'm using a QAM tuner and not their cable box on this unit. Until this week, when they updated the system, I was able to access the channel. It was probably on the list last week. I had to re scan the channel line-up. This week they aren't. They will just blame it on the strength of the broadcast signal. What is frustrating is that I can manually access the channels through the Panasonic and view them on the TV after the initial glitch that I previously mentioned. It's probably that glitch that is resulting in the channels not being auto-added to the list. -
Maybe someone else will know what to do.
