    Your computer is not going to "detect" the VHS machine like it detects a new USB device. There is often no obvious
    sign of my USB capture device being attached to my computer until I start the capture software which forces it to
    LOOK FOR the capture device.

    If the manufacturer has a website you may find a more recent driver there. Or do a Google search.

  8. Does the device show up in Device Manager? Is it "unkown" or has it been properly identified and the driver installed?
