Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this but I need this question answered badly. I need to open PowerPoint presentation which was emailed to me. But this error pops up:
The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to open a read-only location.
Can anyone advise what could have caused this?
Thanks

Maybe password protection was added to the file? You can make a PP file with read or modify protection.
Or your security settings in Windows is blocking it.
But it's not a good idea to reduce Windows security protection to view a document.
But others here with more PP experience may have a better explanation.
And welcome to our forums. -
You should still be able to open it and read it, but not make any revisions, unless the file is corrupted somehow. What program are you using to open it?

This might happen because:
It's set read-only on the disk.
It's stored on read-only storage media .
Someone else is editing the file.
Possibly even a previously crashed but still running instance of presentation has the file open.
