All I'm trying to do is change the aspect ratio of an .avi that was created using a video joining program, something that has worked dozens of times before without any problems. WHY is virtualdub suddenly giving me this message every time I try to save it?

requested frame not found; next valid frame = (number that's different every time the message appears)

  2. Before you converted the same video or different video?
Looks like you are using my input driver plugin, the message may indicate corrupt index or some weird frame rate.
With particular file you may have better luck with internal "audio/video" driver.

DaneClark-Next time you open a thread please put in a more descriptive title rather than 'why is this' so more people will help you.

  4. Do you only want to change the aspect ratio or are you converting it for other reasons?

    MPEG4 Modifier

Mind you it should work perfectly fine when playing the AVI on a PC, but hardware player support for AVI aspect ratios (AVIs without square pixels) might be a different story.
