  1. I am trying to edit a mp4 file using avidemux but when it loads , just a black screen and none of the edit functions do anything.

When I right clicked file and looked at details under properties everything, like bitrate, frame rate, etc was totally blank

Strange thing is though the file plays ok in video players.

Never come across this before any ideas?

    Probably a proprietory format.

ISOM immediately springs to mind. But what does mediainfo (text mode) say, if anything, about it ?

  3. Tried Media info and yes there all the info is displayed.
Also at the moment recoding it with XMedia which seems to work although taking ages. After that maybe can edit with Avidemux we will see.
    oh yeah and whats ISOM?

A little more help could be forthcoming if you shared the mediainfo report.

AFAIK ISOM is a M$ proprietory format

So did that recode work ?

One other possibility is that the video had DRM attached. Then editing/copying is nah impossible.

  6. Upload the file so people can analyze it.
