  1. I was researching MPEG-1 capure devices, an many only support S-Video and Composite INPUT. I was looking for an input and output device. Although these do exist, is there any way or any software that could be used to output video (analog VHS if it matters) though an input connection?

    Thanks-

    cmp1223,

    in short, NO.

unless you mean, for instance, this scenario:
    * A, your first process is to capture via your A/V input (video in)
    * B, Then, after you captured, and now you wanna see what it looks
like played TO your tv set from these same A/V input (video in) now
assumed to be turned into output - - only if your device allows this.
    BUT NOT SAMILTANIOUSLY!!
Sure the devide and have ONE input/output, as long as the device allows
to switch that same A/V connection on it's device from an inpput to
    an output.

    Hope you understood that.

  3. Well, I was looking at the PV 23x, and it has only input slots. I want to load MPEG-1, edit it, then OUTPUT it to VHS. Is there some universal software that will let me use those input slots as output slots? They look the same. Is so, what software will do this? Is quality good?

    Thanks-

  4. Nope, your getting confused a little between input and output. If the hardware only has an input port then your only ever going to be able to put stuff into it, regardless of what your software can do. (The hardware specs will tell you what it can do, firwire inputs are also outputs, analog it depends on what the board is set up to do)

If you get a board with and input and output port then Premiere is exceedingly good for input, editing then output.

For what you want to do you may be best getting a firwire port and a Digital Video Camera that supports pass thru.
