I recently had a couple inquiries about an app I wrote to control my Sony VO-9850 U-matic deck. Unfortunately, I had lost the files in a data storage disaster, but some of the source code recently turned up. So I decided to recreate it as a dot-net application for Windows. It's free to download from my website and use. Remote VCR handles just basic transport control — no editing — but it will work with nearly any Sony pro VCR and lots of other equipment that follows the 9-pin (a.k.a. RS-422, P2, or BVW) protocol. The interface is pure WYSIWYG and all the controls work with the mouse or keyboard. So if you're looking for something like this, give it a try and let me know how it works out for you!
