Naturpic Video Cutter?

I want to split a digital version of an old 1-hour movie into portions. I do not intend to do much video editing. (I do lots of photo editing).
I downloaded and paid for Naturpic Video Cutter ($25 USD because the operating window looked simple and intuitive). I can load videos in .mp4 and .mov formats, and I can join video clips, but the display window always remains dark. Several other issues too.

Still waiting for email help on this, but meanwhile, does anyone have an opinion on Naturpic software?

Any cutting you wish to do can be done as well or better using free software. You probably wasted your money. But no, I have never heard of, much less used, Naturepic.

Never heard of it - plenty of good free programs to do it. Why don't newbies ask first before buying!!! Just look in the Tools section here... weird behaviour

Thanks for the advice, but I only just discovered VideoHelp Forum, and I did search. I previously tried SPG Video Splitter free program. It has a simple interface like Naturpic, but less intuitive, and buggy - like it did not work. I also tried Shotcut. It looked like steep learning curve.
Please make a specific recommendation on a video splitter that you have found to work.

Videoredo is the "go to" commercial (paid) software for doing cuts-only editing of h.264 and MPEG-2 video files.

ffmpeg is the most universal of the free solutions. It is a command line utility, although there are GUI front ends. I actually wrote some simple Excel spreadsheet code that translates an edit decision list (EDL) into a batch file. This lets me do all my edits in my NLE (Vegas for me, but it will work with any NLE that can export a text-based EDL), and then do the cuts with ffmpeg.

What type of files are they? mpeg, mkv, avi, etc maybe post a MediaInfo report on one of them.

Thanks for the new advice. Video redo costs $96. I'll see if I need it. For ffmpeg I'll have to brush up my limited command line knowledge, even how to run the program. From the Forum web page I downloaded free MP4Tools-3.4-win32. I'll try it when time permits. I haven't given up on Naturpic - the web site does not look like a scam to me. A Google search comes back with 19,000 references. None of those I looked at said it does not work. The help document shows exactly how to use it. Of the two programs tried to date, neither of them worked - perhaps my system is at fault. When I get something working I'll post what I learned.

try free video editor its good for mp4 , you need check if you get free version, because last one you need pay.

I sent another email to Naturpic Video Cutter: if no help, please a refund. It came through within hours. Too bad because it would be just right if all you want to do is cut and join.

I tried MP4Tools-3.4-win32.exe on two files. It said .mp4 is “not supported”, and .mov is “not supported”. Very odd, with two very ordinary formats. Is .mp4 the same as MPEG4?

I followed Godai's advice and installed VDSC Free Video Editor. It displays my .mp4 video no problem, but I didn't go further with it because by then I had learned enough to use free open source Shotcut, which I have now used to cut and export many clips from my .mp4 video.

I suggest listing Shotcut on this forum.
